QUALIFICATIONS:
● Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an instrumental music endorsement required. Other degrees and certifications may be considered. Valid Washington State teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement.
● Ability to plan and facilitate student music performances for parents and community.
● Knowledge of subject areas appropriate to assignment; effective behavior management techniques; effective instructional techniques; rules and procedures for student safety.
● Makes learning visible through effective student engagement. Demonstrate ability to design and implement effective, relevant, and engaging music instruction at all K-12 levels.
● Ability to interact with students in a positive and confident manner; be fair and consistent; adapt to change and remain flexible; organize activities; manage student behavior; provide instruction and demonstrate techniques.
● Use good judgment to maintain a safe learning environment
● Use necessary musical instruments, equipment, computers, or software.
● Establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with students, parents or guardians, staff and administrators.

● Coordinates and directs all rehearsals.
● Coordinates students’ solo and group performances outside school hours with students for festivals, fundraisers, other Districts, community events, and competitions.
● Conducts music in concerts and performances.
● Organizes and conducts pep band performances @ home & some away athletic events as well as fall, spring, & summer opportunities to perform in parades for marching band.
● Coordinates student transportation and rides on the bus with students to and from music performances/events.
● Communicates with students, parents, and staff regarding scheduled rehearsals, performances, students’
● requirements for events, and transportation information.
● Supervises student musicians off campus during performances.
● Assigns relevant homework or rehearsal schedules.
● Utilizes formative and summative assessments to measure the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by the District.
● Prepares report cards and progress reports.
● Exhibit strong skills in the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
● Be enthusiastic, open minded and flexible in meeting the needs of students, the school, the district and the community.
● Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms, and collaborate with parents and school staff.
● Maintains and submits student records and progress in a timely manner, and willingness to communicate student progress with parents/guardians/caretakers.
● Maintain professionalism by being a strong role model for students, by actively participating in professional development activities and demonstrating a commitment to support grade level and school wide goals and practices.
● Plans a program of study in music education that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and meets the requirements of district goals & the Washington State Music Learning Standards.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
● Organize instructional programs within the prescribed curriculum to provide for individual differences.
● Band preferred: Ability to teach a variety of instruments.
● Music preferred: Ability to teach chorus skills to K-12 grade students and direct two concerts a year.
● Experience in developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum adaptation, higher level thinking skills, and alternative assessment techniques.
● Experience and training in social skills program models.
● Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with staff, students, and parents.
● Experience designing and implementing Specially Designed Instruction.
● Experience providing direction and feedback to multiple support staff (i.e., para-educators).
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHALL:
● Organize instructional programs within the prescribed curriculum to provide for individual differences.
● Combination of the TK-12 music and 5-12 band determined by class sizes and the administrative team.
● Teach academics, social skills, and/or behavior skills to students.
● Participate as a member of Student Assistance Teams, Multidisciplinary Teams and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
● Work cooperatively and closely with administrators, instructional staff members, para-educators, other school personnel and parents.
● Schedule, supervise and train paraeducators to work in a variety of settings including pull-out and inclusionary settings.
● Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of assessment
● techniques/instruments.
● Devise instructional procedures that actively engage all learners.
● Prepare reports and other documentation as necessary in a timely manner.
● Implement districts’ and building’s philosophies and goals.
● Implement adopted curricular programs and provide for individual learning needs of the students.
● Assist on the evaluation of curricular programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional
● equipment and materials.
● Provide academic guidance and counseling for students under their direction.
