Job Description

General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, and reporting directly to the assigned Clinical Supervisor, the Community Based Mental Health Therapist works as part of the community treatment team to provide direct counseling, therapeutic support and case management to high-risk students.

Salary:

Below are the full salary ranges , which will be determined by experience and licenses held:

  • Mental Health Therapist I: $53,963.83 - $65,655.60 annually / $33.73 - $41.03 hourly
  • Mental Health Therapist II: $58,820.97 - $71,564.90 annually / $36.76 - $44.73 hourly

IMPORTANT: Offers are made at the entry level of the range.

*Effective September 1, 2024, the new salary ranges will be:
  • Mental Health Therapist I: $55,967.94 - $68,079.93 annually / $34.98 - $42.55 hourly
  • Mental Health Therapist II: $60,991.94 - $74,207.93 annually / $38.12 - $46.38 hourly


Assignment:

We are recruiting for two therapists to serve Ocean Beach School District. The position will be full-time, working 200 days per year. The work schedule will follow the school calendar with some work in the summer. This position is school based serving students in the primary, middle, and high schools. Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide assessment, intake, case management and therapeutic support to identified youth at school, within the home, or while placed within community programs.
  2. Work with students and their guardians in the development of an individual support plan which is strength based, measurable, and assists students in meeting their goals.
  3. Assist with implementation and monitoring of supervision and support plans as needed.
  4. Provide individual, family and group counseling.
  5. Meet with students, families, counselors, school officials, juvenile justice, and other community partners to facilitate the student's school enrollment, job placement or other identified supports.
  6. Coordinate and participate in a multidisciplinary team including but not limited to guardians and other natural supports, school and district staff, juvenile justice, primary care, community partners and other team members as indicated.
  7. Identify barriers to youth success in the school and community. Refer and connect youth/students to appropriate community resources and services (i.e., support groups, mentoring, tutoring, clothing, health care, food, housing, transportation).
  8. Monitor progress and attendance at school. Assist youth and family with tracking and organization of homework assignments; assist students with scheduling classes and credits needed to stay on track to on-time graduation or for recovering lost credits.
  9. Administer and assess evidence-based measurement tools to track student improvement, success and readiness for service conclusion.
  10. Maintain complete and timely documentation as required by law and administrative regulations.
Other Functions:
  1. Participate in staff and team meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
  2. Maintain knowledge of best practices in the mental health field.
  3. Follow policies and procedures for ESD 112 and the Behavioral Health Agency.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  2. Experience working with social/emotional at-risk youth.
  3. Experience with social/emotional support or therapy.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Hold or ability to obtain a unrestricted Washington license (LMHC, LMFT, or LICSW).
  2. Experience working with schools, juvenile justice, and other community-based programs.
  3. Case Management experience.
  4. Familiar with Washington mental health agencies and resources.
  5. Bilingual.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  1. Frequent travel throughout Clark County.
  2. Variety of settings including students' homes, office and school environment.
  3. Extended or flexible hours as necessary.
Employment Requirements - ESD job offer is contingent upon satisfying the following:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the WA state patrol and FBI.
